The second Christmas race saw the familiar Nightmare In Pit Lane pairing of Rene Smit and Grant Reeve on the front row of the grid after qualifying.

Following his win at San Marino, Pedro Celli stormed up the championship table with a second vistory, finishing 10 seconds ahead of Smit. These two drivers appeared to be in a league of their own at this circuit, with 3rd place Oliver Roberts a massive 50 seconds behind his rival Smit. Despite crasing as early as lap 4, Robert Schaftlein drove to 4th place. Once again, Graham Hawkins drove the fastest lap, but had to settle for 5th.

Unsurprisingly, manyt of the competitors were either involved in, or witnessed crashes at the notorious pit entrance chicane. Indeed, Roberts narrowly avoided ending his race there on the last lap.

A special award should be given to Reinhold Schatzer for what will almost certainly be the earliest exit of the season - crashing out after less than half a lap! He was in good company, though, since only 16 of the 26 starters completed the race distance.

After five races the battle for the championship is still very close, with Roberts lead over Smit cut to just 5 points. The Constructors` Championship is looking like a two horse race between DigiTech and Nightmare.
