Mexico completed the trilogy of festive races, and proved to be a fairly uneventful race for those who could be bothered attempting it. Of the 25 starters, a healthy 18 finished the race.

Yet again, the Nightmare duo dominated qualifying, this time Grant Reeve starting on pole.

It was his teammate Rene Smit, however, who took control of the race, getting the fastest lap of the race on the way to victory, almost half a minute ahead of Patrick Giesbegen. This was Giesbegen`s first points finish of the season, and he seemed to surprise himself as much as everyone else, reporting `an incredible race - I never crashed!` Nightmare`s Reeve reminded everyone that he could complete an entire race by finishing 5th, his first points finish since USA.

Special note should be given to DigiTech`s Alan Strang, who appeared to take great inspiration from fellow Scot David Coulthard`s performance at Adelaide by ending his race in the pit lane! Hmmm.

Despite another podium finish, Oliver Roberts has dropped to 2nd in the Drivers` Championship, three points behind new leader Smit. The championship now looks like being a straight battle to the end between these two drivers.

Although he`s no longer leading, Roberts is the only driver to finish all six races in the Top 10, winning one. Smit has managed five Top 10 finishes, including two wins. Hans Gunnar Hansen, Axel Bruns, Michal Janak and Graham Hawkins have all finished in the Top 10 four times.
